Trade and Enterprise

Trade is when you swap something for something else. You could swap a house for money and you buy it.

Enterprise is when you are in a business. I am in the music group and making a guitar and drum to sell.

If I had million dollars

If I had million dollars I would feel excited. I would go to McDonalds, EB Games and Lilliputt with my family.

At McDonalds I will get ice-cream. I will get a Kit Kat McFlurry, M&Ms Minis McFlurry, Banana Choc Mcflurry and soft serve with a flake. Me and my brothers we will eat it all.

When I go to EB Games I will have some fun buying a PS4, 2 controllers, headphones, microphone and Rugby League Live 3.  I would buy it because I like rugby. I would be able to play and talk to my friends with the headphones.

Then I will go to Lilliputt with my family. I haven’t played mini golf before so I don’t know who would win. I think my uncle probably would because he likes golf.

I would feel really good because I would have fun and eat yummy ice cream.

I think it is a good way to spend the money because I would only spend some of it and save the rest for things my family need.

We read about how to create a hungry hen. My partner Ngarima and I followed instructions to make our hungry hen. This is a video of our hen eating wheat.

Creative Paragraphs- Man In Space

This week we have been learning to rework our writing to make our paragraphs interesting for our audience. We started by writing a creative sentence about this picture. As a class we will choose Nate's sentence because we liked it the best and wrote a paragraph each to follow the chosen sentence. Here is the beginning of my story that starts with Nate's sentence.

A spaceman bravely walks out into the icy milkyway. Oh no! There is a crack  in his helmet, he can’t breathe. He begins to freeze.

Luckily someone is watching. They quickly help him come back in the ship. They get the laser to unfreeze him.

As the laser touches him he begins to feel warm and good. “Thank you” he says to the people that saved him. I hope it will happen again.

Tinkering, Tools and Toys

Today Pt England had an assembly.  They told us about tinkering, tools and toys. We are going to make a game.

My favourite part was eating the jam piklet. Yum !

It was a great way to start school.

Easter Dictogloss

What is Easter?

People have different beliefs about Easter. Some people think it is about bunnies, easter eggs, food, when Jesus Christ was resurrected and some people don’t celebrate it.

Ancient Egyptians and Persians thought that the earth came from an egg. They paint eggs to celebrate. The chocolate Easter egg came from Germany.

Easter Sunday

Christians believe that Jesus died to save us. On Easter Friday he died and on Easter Sunday God brought him alive again.

Whitebait

I have been reading a story about whitebait. I learnt that whitebait are young fish that you make into fritters. My uncle has eaten them but I won't like them. Here is a picture of the whitebait growing up.

Yr 5 and 6 camp

Last week yr 5 and 6 had camp at school. We were in tents and I was sleeping with Justus. I was in The All Stars team with Miss Vaafusuanga. We did kayaking, top town, The Amazing Race, cooking and swimming.

Mr Burt took us to Pt England beach to go kayaking. He told us to use our paddle like a knife and spoon. He also said when we get into the kayak to do foot, bum, foot. This would stop us from falling down. I was by myself in the kayak. It was really fun.

The boys got to do cooking with Whaea Saf. We made corn fritters they were tasty. The girls got to do baking with Ms Jarman.  They made cookies.

I liked doing kayaking the best. It was really fun. It will be even better next year!

Hinaki Blends

We have been reading a story called ‘Hinaki’. A hinaki is a trap used to catch eels in a stream. From the text I found as many blends as I could and put them in the table below.  I have highlighted where the blend is found in the word.

Use your WITS

At pt england school we do our W.I.T.S so we stay out of trouble.  That means we Walk away, Ignore it, Talk about it and Seek help.

Walk a Away. When someone tries to have a fight Walk Away. If you move so they can’t see you anymore then they can’t try and fight you. When people were calling me names I walked away so I couldn’t hear them anymore.

Ignore it. If someone is being mean with their eyes don’t look at them just ignore it. When people were calling me names I didn’t listen I just ignored them.

Talk about it means tell them to stop. If someone push you say stop.

Seek Help means tell a teacher if someone is making fun of you. Say you have asked them to stop but they won’t.

Use your WITS because it could help you.

John Holiday

ln the  holidays I was  playing  games with my brother. We have fun when we play together.  

First we  were playing call of duty. My brother kept  losing because it was his first time playing. We were doing missions where you have to capture people.

After our game we had sandwiches with cheese and ham.  They were delicious. I made them for me and my brother.

It was enjoyable spending time with my brother.
